DRIVER CPC THE FACTS

One set of training every 5 years if you drive a lorry as the main part of your job

You have to do the training in the country where you work or are normally resident.
You only need to complete one set of training every 5 years if you drive a lorry, bus or coach as the main part of your job.

HOW TO GET AND KEEP THE FULL DRIVER CPC
  • Pass the 4 tests that make up Driver CPC to qualify
  • Take 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to stay qualified
  • Sign a declaration every 5 years until you’re 45 to show you still meet the medical standards
  • Provide a medical report every 5 years after you’re 45 to renew your driving licence  - you need to do this every year when you reach 65

WHEN TO TAKE DRIVER CPC PERIODIC TRAINING
Each 5-year period starts from 5 years before your current Driver CPC qualification runs out - not from the date you completed your last 35 hours of training.

DEADLINE FOR NEW PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS
You must complete periodic training by 5 years from the date you got the initial qualification.
